Summerleaze Beach, Bude.
Summerleaze is Bude’s main beach and one of the most popular beaches on the North Cornwall coast, with a wide stretch of golden sand right beside the town. Summerleaze is 12 miles from Hentervene Holiday Park.
It’s an easy beach to combine with a visit to Bude, making it a good choice if you want a traditional beach day followed by shops, cafés or lunch in town.
What makes Summerleaze special?
Wide sandy beach
At low tide, Summerleaze opens out into a large sandy beach with plenty of space for beach games, sandcastles and relaxing.

Bude Sea Pool
The famous Bude Sea Pool sits beside the beach and provides a sheltered place to swim when conditions in the Atlantic aren’t suitable.

Surfing
Summerleaze is popular with surfers and is home to surf schools during the main season. The Atlantic can be powerful, so always check conditions before entering the water. Beach is surfable whatever the tide.
Coastal walks
The South West Coast Path runs along the cliffs above the beach, providing excellent views over Bude and the surrounding coastline.
Dog friendly
Dogs must be on leads from 21st May to 30th September from 10am-6pm.
Beach safety
Summerleaze is an exposed Atlantic beach and conditions can change quickly. Take care around the sea, check the tide and follow any lifeguard instructions.
If you are swimming, use the designated areas and never underestimate the strength of the sea.
Facilities
Summerleaze has excellent facilities, with parking, toilets, cafés and places to eat nearby. Bude town centre is just a short walk away.
